Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# H15603. Bbl. 23 5/8". Scarce 1941 Portuguese contract Mauser rifle w/ solid walnut stock, commercial type finish. Stock has standard German military markings plus Portuguese crest & 1941 date on left side of butt. All markings are crisp & legible. Receiver is marked on left rail "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N.". Receiver marked on top w/ Portuguese crest & 1941 date. Has eagle 55 & marked on side w/ eagle proof. Bbl. marked on left side w/ eagle proof, "15" & 3 eagle "965". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective hooded. Cleaning rod & bayonet bar are present. All milled furniture. Stock has cup type buttplate & steel takedown hole. CONDITION: stock has scattered sm. dents & handling marks w/ notable dents on buttstock comb. Metal has 95% original blue finish w/ light high point wear & several scattered spots of peppery oxidation. Near excellent shiny bore. (20-893/RW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
