Cal. 15.4mm. NSN. Bbl. 14 1/4". A rare example of a Prussian Dreyse that according to the consignor is S# 683 & has standard Prussian inspector"s marks on internal parts. There is a fixed front sight w/ a 2 position, flip up, rear leaf sight. Brass trigger guard & buttplate. Trigger guard plate has a lg. lanyard ring near the cheekpiece. Figured wood stock. CONDITION: steel has a medium gray somewhat mottled patina & the brass has an aged mellow patina. Stock appears to have original finish w/ numerous dents & dings from vigorous use. There is a minor loss behind the muzzle cap. Mechanics need adjustment. Good bore w/ strong rifling. PROVENANCE: Formally of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess Collection. (01-17360/BF). ANTIQUE. $1,700-2,200.
