Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Chhatrapatis of Satara - silver rupee, in the name of Muhammad Shah, Baramati mint, AH1132/RY Ahd, not listed in M&W, 11.34g.

Several punches, Very fine, Very rare.

The mint at Baramati was operated by Babuji Naik, a powerful Maratha Sahukar who played an important role in Maratha politics during the reign of Chhatrapati Shahu (1714-1749), often posing as a rival to the Peshwa Baji Rao I. On this coin the mint-name is inscribed with the final 'Ye' in Majhool or 'lazy' form.
