Cal. 303 British. S# 2T3225. Bbl. 25". Finish appears to be original. Marked on right side receiver "BREN Mk I M" & "INLIS 1942". Receiver is marked on left side w/ broad arrow & British proof marks & again w/ "42" date. Bbl. marked "CB2" where gun feeds from mag. directly above receiver, sights are offset several degrees to the left. Front sight protected blade, rear peep sight adj. in elevation from 200-2,000m. Left side selector marked "A" full-auto, "S" safe & "R" semi. Bipod mounted below bbl. at termination point of gas system. Folding carry handle above gas system forward of receiver. Paperwork indicates model as MKII though the receiver markings show it is clearly an MKI. MAGS: 1-20 rd. CONDITION: external metal surfaces still enjoy complete coverage of original finish aside from scratches & thinning on high points. Rear sight adjustment knob has earned gentle patina which appears to have been brought under control long ago. Carry handle rotates effortlessly & wood free from major defect. Stock & pistol grip match in both color & condition w/ heavy gouging sporadically. Rear stock retains lock unit for use w/ option monopod & sling swivel on right side. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand & is extremely smooth. Bore is clean w/ strong rifling. PROVENANCE: Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum Collection.
