Antique Winchester Model 1876 Fullstock Saddle Ring Carbine, Late 2nd Model, #14612, .45-60 CF cal., 22'' barrel with integral block-blade front sight (doubles as bayonet lug) and adjustable sliding-leaf rear sight, marked on top with the Winchester name, address and ''King's Improvement'' patent dates on two lines, and ''Cal. 45-60'' at breech; receiver with top sliding ejection cover, left-side sling stud and ring, and brass cartridge elevator marked ''45-60'', has ''Model 1876'' on top tang and ''14612'' on bottom; oil-stained walnut forestock with steel nosecap, and buttstock with carbine buttplate. Mfg'd 1880. Condition is very good. Steel parts retain no original finish but an overall gunmetal gray color with scattered light erosion and discoloration. Stocks are sound with the expected scrapes and dings of military use, buttstock with a professional 4''x1'' wood patch at left wrist, and another 3''x5'' wood patch at right wrist extending from bottom to comb. Action functions; bore is shiny with occasional erosion and sharp rifling. This fullstock carbine is one of the more unusual '76 ''Centennial Model'' Winchesters, which were favorites of Pres. Theodore Roosevelt. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
