James Butler Hickok was known as a Civil War hero, Army scout and lawman. He purchased both of these revolvers and was known as a two gun man, being able to shoot with both hands. The letters "J B H" are found on these revolvers, which are the initials of James Butler Hickok. It is believed he was told by George A. Custer to place his initials on the guns. The letters "C C U" are also found on these revolvers, which are the initials of Charlie Utter also known as Colorado Charlie. It is believed Charlie Utter placed his initials on the gun after his friend Wild Bill Hickok died.
