1) WWII GERMAN SS SWORD. Overall length: 39 3/4". Blade length: 32 3/4". Plain unmarked blade w/ a single fuller. German silver hilt w/ leafed ferrule. Black wire wrapped grip w/ central SS medallion. Scabbard is plated steel mounted, black enameled iron. We believe this sword is possibly of post WWII mfg. CONDITION: blade shows very light wear w/ spotty oxidation concentrated near the tip. Hilt shows light wear overall. Central SS medallion seems to be crudely cast. Scabbard shows light wear overall w/ some loss & oxidation to the enameled finish. (02-13347/BF). 2) WWII ITALIAN AIR FORCE SWORD. Overall length: 39 1/2". Blade length: 32 1/2". Blade is etched over 2/3 of its length w/ various foliate, patriotic & military motifs. Gilded brass hilt in the shape of an eagle's wing w/ eagle head pommel & crown pommel nut. Wire wrapped, black enameled wood grip. Gilded brass mounted, leather covered scabbard w/ Italian Air Force eagle at the throat. CONDITION: blade has a light gray finish w/ strong etching. Hilt retains most of its gilded finish & is quite well executed. Grip & wire appear complete but a few wires have been dislodged from their groove. Scabbard mounts show substantial gilded finish remaining. Leather shows minor scuffs. Scabbard body is a tiny bit misshaped. (02-13389/BF). $500-1,000.
