A very rare left engine propeller blade for the famous WWII fighter known as a P-38 Lightning. The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a single seat United States Army Air Corps fighter developed during World War II. The P-38 had twin booms on either side & a central nacelle housing the cockpit as well as armament. The Germans called the P-38 “the fork tailed devil”. The propeller measures 66 1/2" in length & is solid aluminum. It was produced by Curtiss Electric for Lockheed. This propeller has been painstakingly sanded & polished to a mirror like finish on the front & a black matte finish on the back. The propeller features elegant curvature & presents an esthetically attractive form becoming a true objet d’art. This aeronautical sculpture is fitted w/ a custom made wooden base & would present a stunning display in a business, museum, gallery or private residence. CONDITION: propeller shows only light handling wear. (02-15034/BF). $3,000-5,000.
