A rare & seldom offered example of a WWII American Norden bomb sight. The bomb sight was America’s top secret weapon in the bombing campaign against Japan & Germany. It was so important to the war effort that men who utilized the bomb sight had to take an oath of secrecy never to talk about it. The Norden bomb sight was a legend in WWII. It allowed planes to bomb more safely at higher altitudes & was so accurate, pilots joked that they could drop bombs in a pickle barrel. This sight is black & appears to have all its knobs & calibrators intact. The optics appear functional though obviously they have not been tested. What a great centerpiece for the WWII aviation collection! CONDITION: there are a few scattered scuffs & scrapes & ample dust but the bomb sight remains as issued. (02-14279/BF). $1,500-2,500.
