WWII German P.08 Mauser Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, dated 1938, #7187n, 9mm, 4" barrel, blued finish, blued small parts, drift adjustable inverted "V" front sight and "V"-notched fixed rear sight, toggle marked S/42, checkered walnut grips, stock lug on rear grip of frame, mismatched numbers, and one mismatched blued steel magazine with aluminum base. Slide and barrel are numbered 776; toggle assembly parts, sideplate, takedown lever, trigger, and firing pin lever are numbered 76. Frame is numbered 7187n, and the safety lever and safety arm are numbered 87. There are Nazi "(eagle)/63" and Weimar eagle type firing proof marks on right side of slide, with a Weimar eagle proof on right side of barrel. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80% of its original salt blued finish, with light holster wear to the muzzle sides, front of frame, trigger guard edges, sideplate high edges, slide high edges, and rear frame ears. Rear of the slide shows some thinning to the bluing on top and rear. Gripstraps show some thinning to the blued finish. Grip screws are very nice. Trigger and safety lever show only minor wear. Takedown lever has some wear to the high edges. Wood grips show a few minor depressions, wear and flattening to the checkered diamonds, and darkening from use, but fit very well and tight. Magazine shows wear to the blued finish from use overall, but no rusting or pitting; aluminum base is numbered 1711d, with a "+". The action, hold open, and safety work properly; bore is lightly pitted overall, with well-defined lands and grooves. Est.: $800-$1,200. (C&R/PPT)
