SERIAL NUMBER 42454 BARREL 28" CALIBER 45-75 WCF MANUFACTURED 1884. Known as the Centennial rifle for its year of introduction, the model 1876 was Winchester's introduction into lever action rifles chambered for powerful cartridges as opposed to the lighter pistol type cartridges used previously. Full length octagon barrel with dovetail blade front sight and top barrel flat having the traditional 2 line barrel address. Elevation adjustable sporting rear sight, and top of chamber marked "45-75". Side plated receiver is case color finished with sliding dust cover, single set trigger and tang fitted with Lyman folding tang sight. Brass cartridge elevator is marked 45-75. Serial number is at rear of lower tang. Rifle has factory 1/2 magazine and is mounted with varnished fancy highly figured walnut with forearm checkered in the "H" pattern with the straight wrist checkered to match. Smooth steel shotgun pattern butt plate. The classic Tom Horn rifle, CONDITION, Very fine with excellent bright bore. The barrel and magazine retain over 95% blue finish. The receiver has retained 30% case colors with balance turning silver / plum from period use. The action operates properly as does the single set trigger. The varnished deluxe stocks are very fine, full sized with sharp checkering and most varnish remains. A super 1876 Deluxe rifle. ANTIQUE
