SERIAL 18463. BARREL 7.5". CALIBER 45 COLT. Made in 1875. The W.W. Johnson sub-inspector "J" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder. The barrel has the one-line address. A "P" proof mark is stamped on the cylinder as well as bottom of the barrel. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent dates with U.S. stamp The left side of the walnut grip has no visible cartouche. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder and barrel . Loading gate has 595 assembly number stamp. Typical donut ejector head. No visible Casey stamps. This is an early gun made the year before the Custer battle. Serial number 18393 was issued to the 7th cavalry. It is a standard issue US revolver with blue case finish and one piece walnut grips. Condition. Grips are not numbered and are a bit shy with no original finish. All metal surfaces are gray patina having been cleaned at one time. Muzzle shows holster wear. Nice smooth action that indexes and locks up correctly. Rifling is sharp. Clean, no finish, early cavalry Colt . ANTIQUE
