SERIAL 4672. BARREL 7.5". CALIBER .45 COLT. MADE IN EARLY 1874 WITH EARLY 2-LINE ADDRESS ON FRAME. Documented 7th cavalry Custer serial range guns run from 4500 thru 5504. Orville W. Ainsworth inspected Colt SAA revolvers for the government only in 1873-74. It is a standard issue .45 with proper slant barrel address, US on left side of frame, blue and case color. You will find the Ainsworth A stamped on the barrel with a P, backstrap, trigger guard, cylinder. Matching serial number on frame, barrel, trigger guard, back strap, ejector housing and cylinder. One piece walnut6 grips have no visible remaining cartouche but 4672 is written inside grip channel. Proper donut head ejector rod head Correct case color hammer. Blue screws. Front sight is full height. Condition. Frame has sharp legends with case color remaining in protected areas with balance patterned out. Hammer has 70% or better dulling color. Grips are excellent with minor impressions. Barrel retains 85% blue with balance homogenous patina, mostly on a 2" area left side of barrel. Housing has nearly all the blue on underside and scalloped upper with patina on side from holster. Cylinder is basically soft patina. Barrel address crisp. There is generous amounts of blue on protected area of straps. Most of the blue remains on screws but most have been tightened at one time and there is general disfiguration. Bore is sharp and mirror bright with no cancer. The half cock is worn so only 3-clicks. Cylinder locks up and indexes like a vault. Asuperior 2nd year Ainsworth Colt SAA. ANTIQUE
