VERY FINE CASED LONDON COLT POCKET MODEL
PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S# 4098. This Colt Model 1849 London Pocket model is in fine matching condition retaining most original finish w/ English oak Colt casing w/ accessories. This revolver conforms to other Pocket Models made in 1854 w/ 2 line London address w/ 5" bbl. w/ sm. English proofs on bbl. housing & each chamber. The blued steel trigger guard & backstrap hold one piece walnut grip that retains much of its original varnish. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: compartmented case & holds a Dixon bag flask, 2 cavity "COLTS PATENT" bullet mold, L shaped gun tool, pack of caps & one loose shot in the covered compartment. CONDITION: fine to near excellent overall, all matching w/ about 90% blue on bbl., 30% blue on cyl. w/ complete “stagecoach holdup” rolled scene, 4 of 5 safety pins still functional. Frame retains over 50% bright & muted case colors. Markings all crisp. Backstrap & trigger guard retain about 30% of their thinning original bright blue. Stocks are well fit retaining most of their original varnish w/ later coating over, scattered sm. cosmetic blemishes, light edge wear. Grips were not removed as they appear original to this revolver. Mechanically functions well w/ well defined rifled bore. Oak casing is sound w/ normal handling marks, good original varnish w/ blank brass plaque on lid & brass keyhole escutcheons. Red baize lining complete, light fading & staining, minor reductions w/ good original varnish w/ a blank brass plaque on top & brass keyhole escutcheon. L shaped tool, Hicks cap tin & Dixson flask are average good condition. 2 cavity Colt mold retains about 90% thinning dull blue finish w/ several sm. blemishes. Paper label for loading is in good condition w/ some soiling, staining & scuffing, sm. reduction to text. (01-17285/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,000.
