ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 51943. Bbl. 32 1/2". U.S. Springfield buckhorn type rear sight marked on left side w/ "R". Sight ladder does not have "N" at top left. Stud type front sight w/ pinned blade. Receiver is marked on left rail "REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, ILION, N.Y. USA SOLE MANUFACTURERS & AGENTS" "PATENTED NOV 4TH 1879." Receiver ring marked on top "U.S.N." "(anchor)" "No. 2670 WWK" indicating inspection by W.W. Kimball. Receiver has additional "H" in star on the rear left corner. The star also appears on top of the locking lug on the bolt. Cleaning rod is present. 2 Band design has stacking swivel & sling swivel in upper band. Rear sling swivel is at forward end of trigger guard. Unmarked walnut stock. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 5 shot blue steel detachable magazine. CONDITION: stock has professional refinish w/ added coat of lacquer as preservative & given numbered paper disc on right side of butt. Lacquered finish has thinning wear & flaking throughout. Metal parts are finished bright w/ light wear, scattered spots of peppery oxidation & light staining. Bore has sharp lands, but scattered pitting throughout. (01-19345/RW). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,600.
