FACE SHIELD. These were short lived helmet manufactured by the Ford Motor Company in 1918 for the US Army in hopes to produce a helmet to replace the standard "Doughboy" helmet. They were produced in 1918 in small numbers and never reached the production stage. The face mask was meant to be removable. Surviving examples are difficult to come by. CONDITION: this example shows light surface rust on both the exterior and interior and the original liner and chinstrap is badly deteriorated. Overall condition is "as found".
