Cal. 54. NSN. This is an honest example of U.S. contract pistol made by Simeon North Middleton, Connecticut. This pistol conforms to the standard configuration w/ 9 1/16" rnd. smooth bore bbl., dbl. strap bbl. band w/ brass blade sight, iron mounted. This example has standard proofs w/ apparent condemnation mark stamped above U.S. proof on left side of breech. Unknown set of possible regimental markings are stamped on top of bbl. CONDITION: good overall, complete & original flint. Metal cleaned w/ overall gray patina & pitting. Markings mostly discernable, though cartouche is weak. Mechanically fine w/ clean smooth bore. (01-17236/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
