AMES. Cal. 54. NSN. Bbl. 6" rnd., marked at the breech "USN / 1844 / RP / P". Lock is marked below the hammer "N.P. AMES SPRINGFIELD MASS" & at the rear of the lockplate "USN 1846". Brass trigger guard, buttcap & bbl. band. Swivel type iron ramrod. CONDITION: metal has a light gray cleaned mottled finish. Brass has a mellow color & appears to have been lacquered. Lock holds both full & half cock. Stock has a heavy abrasion just behind the lockplate. There is a tight crack on the left side running through the screw. There is another sm. tight crack emanating from the front of the lockplate to the bbl. channel. Very good bore. (01-16063/BF). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
