SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 4" CALIBER .45ACP MANUFACTURED 1943. Produced in secrecy by the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson Indiana for support of resistance fighters and gorilla warfare against the Axis powers in Europe , Asia and the Pacific. Produced of sheet metal stampings with a cast zinc cocking handle and smooth bore. The pistols were originally housed in a pictorial cardboard box with 10 rounds of steel cased FA-43 dated .45 acp ammunition and a wooden dowel for cartridge extraction. Included was a pictorial or cartoon instruction manual. Designated as the FP-45 (flare pistol .45 caliber) to further hide the actual intention of these pistols. Originally the pistols were air dropped in Europe, Asia and the Pacific to both demoralize opposing forces and to arm freedom fighters. CONDITION, Good with fully operational action. Externally the pistol still remains in the white as was produced. Some small areas of period oxidation are evident in protected areas. Base plate is a contemporary replacement. C&R
