Cal. about 44. NSN. Bbl. 36 7/8" oct. w/ blade front sight & fixed V notch rear sight. Top flat is marked "TRYON PHILADa". French style bolster conversion. Engraved lock has no visible makers name. Single set trigger. Key fastened half length cheekpiece walnut stock w/ checkered wrist. Engraved iron pierced & segmented rectangular lid patch box. Other iron fittings include crescent buttplate, pineapple finial toeplate, finger curl trigger guard w/ pineapple finial & sideplate escutcheons. German silver fittings include nose cap & key escutcheons. Top of wrist has brass oval plate. Replacement hardwood ramrod held on iron under rib by 2 iron pipes & thimble. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: signed letter from Lt. Col. Brophy's daughter regarding this lot. CONDITION: metal has mottled gray appearance showing dents & areas of pitting. Stock is refinished showing handling marks having cracks & epoxy repairs around sideplate escutcheons & tang. Areas behind & forward of lock have added wood repairs.
