Cal. 56. NSN. Bbl. 8" brass of swamped configuration w/ smooth bore. Top flat is marked "LONDON". Left side of breech has 2 English commercial proofs. Iron lock marked "T / KETLAND / & Co.". Pin fastened walnut stock w/ brass buttcap, trigger guard & sideplate. Wrist has oval brass name plate w/ indiscernible initials. Bone ramrod is held by brass thimble & single pipe. CONDITION: very good overall, brass has been cleaned w/ a light mustard patina, iron is dark, frizzen spring is replaced. Stock has one hairline opposite lock through sideplate, otherwise stock is sound w/ good color under old varnish. Bbl. has mildly bright appearance w/ dark tarnish around flash hole. Other brass parts show a mild tarnish. Thimble & pipe are dented. Lock has dark heavy patina appearance. Stock has finish wear showing scratches & handling marks w/ crack in the sideplate area. Clear, slightly corroded bore. Mechanically fine. (01-17099/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
