Sultans of Bijapur, Lead/copper 10 cash of Ali Adil Shah II (1656-1672 AD), Chandavar (Thanjavur) mint, not listed in G&G, 9.97g. Obv: Farsi legend Ali Adil Shah Muhammad Shah. Rev: Farsi legend Fulus Zarb Chandawar.

Very fine, Very rare.

Chandawar was the Islamic equivalent of Thanjavur, which was made tributary to the Adil Shahi Sultanate by Shahaji Bhonsle in early 1660s. This coin remains hitherto unique and is an important testimony to the Maratha expansionism in the Deep South.
