Phil Tippett served as the Creature Visual Effects Supervisor for Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers (1997), an iconic role that successfully bridged his legendary stop-motion background into the digital age. Managing a massive team of visual artists at Tippett Studio, he oversaw the design, creation, and digital animation of the film's terrifying alien insect military hierarchy. His groundbreaking work on the project earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects and a Saturn Award for Best Special Effects.
This lot is part of the Phil Tippett Collection and will come with a co-signed COA by Phil Tippett.
Phil Tippett is the founder and namesake of Tippett Studio. His varied career in visual effects has spanned more than 30 years and includes two Academy Awards; and six nominations, one BAFTA award and four nominations, two Emmys and the advent of modern digital effects in motion pictures.
He is the inventor of the Stop-Motion technique called Go-Motion and even has a dinosaur species named after him: Elaphrosaurus philtippettorum.
