Scarce and Desirable L.C. Smith Featherweight .410 Field Grade Side-by-Side Shotgun, #175454, .410 bore, 28'' checkered ribbed blue barrels, case hardened sidelock frame, auto safety, ejectors, checkered pistol-grip walnut stock, with splinter forend. Mfg'd 1938. Top of watertable marked ''FwE175454/Field''. Bottom chamber area of barrels marked ''PM Co.'' in square cartouche over ''NP''. Barrels both additionally marked ''Armor Steel''. Top chamber area of right barrel marked ''L.C. Smith Field Grade''; left barrel marked ''Hunter Arms Co. Inc., M'F'R's, Fulton, NY, USA''. Condition is excellent. Barrel assembly retains approx. 98%+ original blue finish. Case hardened frame components remain bright and vivid with only the lightest thinning to balance point. Triggerguard exhibits almost all of its original blue with unturned screws. Stock with light impressions to right side cheek area, with the only real detraction being a very small chip to tip of buttplate. Length of pull: 14"; drop at comb: 1--3/8"; drop at heel: 2-5/8". Tight crisp action, mirror bright bores. A near pristine example of a pre-war American shotgun in the most desirable chambering manufactured. Est.: $7,500-$10,000. (C& R)
