Serial #1658 Caliber 40-72 WCF Manufactured 1896. Special order Winchester Model 1895 with ½ Octagon and ½ Round barrel. Fitted with straight grained American walnut stocks with Schnabel forearm and shotgun butt. Blue finished with Sporting blade front sight with elevation adjustable rear sight. Chambered for then powerful 40-72-330 WCF black powder cartridge, The 40-72 propelled a 330 gr bullet at 1420 feet per second and was a potent cartridge of the era. CONDITION. Very good with over 70% factory blue finish remaining. Stocks are very good with period bruises and most varnish remaining. Action operates properly. ANTIQUE
