OF PARIS. Cal. approx. 60. NSN. Bbl. 34 1/4" oct. to 16 sided to rnd. Bbl. is gold inlaid “Cazes A. Paris” on top rear flat. Breech has 3 gold inlaid proof marks behind fine gold foliate inlays. The edges of the oct. & the 16 sided transitions have gold bead damascene finish & floral gold highlights. Silver ovate front sight sits atop gold damascene decorated area. Touch hole is gold lined. Rounded lock w/ matching serpentine cock has inset rounded pan w/ bridled friction frizzen. Feather spring w/ intricately finished finial. Lock is engraved “CAZES A PARIS”. Cazes worked circa 1750-1798. European walnut full stock has nicely fluted ramrod channel w/ heavy pipes decorated on the ends w/ beading. Fine baleen ramrod w/ horn tip. Other furniture iron & nicely detailed. Trigger guard tang is engraved “NO 2”. Stock also features large shadow line right hand cheekpiece & skip line checkering w/ crenellated border. CONDITION: bbl. appears to have some original blue under heavy layer of grime & oxidation. Lock has a considerable amount of what appears to be original polish, lightly oxidized towards the rear. Stock is sound & has most of its original finish w/ expected dents & dings. Checkering has quarter sized patch worn flat on right side, otherwise, only shows slight wear. Near excellent bore.
