SERIAL NUMBERS, 7355 / 7356 BARREL 7 1/2" (BOTH) CALIBER .36 BLACK POWDER MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1860. Believed to be the finest known cased matched pair of Belgian Brevete Colt Navy revolvers to exist. Deeply scroll and vine engraved with case color frames and brilliant high polish blue barrels and cylinders with silver washed trigger guards and backstrap. Finely checkered ebony one piece grips with elaborate relief carving at base. Gold inlaid on top flat of barrel "DUCHESAY A YNETOT" Belgian proofed at rear edge of cylinder and marked "COLT BREVETE" at rear of barrel forward of forcing cone. Consecutive serial numbered revolvers are elaborately displayed in a French fitted red velvet lined case with all accessories. These revolvers are a recent discovery and not previously offered. These Brevete Colt pattern revolvers were known to be offered to the south during the United States Civil War and some were not able to be delivered due to the blockade by the United States Navy.
