Cal. 30-40 Krag. S# 351800. Bbl. 22". Very nice correct Model 1899 Krag Carbine. Receiver marked on left side "MODEL 1899". Has standard type cocking piece. Model 1901 Carbine rear sight. Moveable base marked on left side w/ "C". Sight ladder made w/out bullet drift correction. Sight ladder graduated from 100 to 2300 yds. Blade front sight. Matching walnut stock & handguard w/ crisp markings. Stock is marked on left side over trigger guard w/ boxed "JSA 1901" cartouche. Marked under grip w/ "N" & encircled script "P" proof mark. Handguard has forward hump designed w/ binding lever clearance. Smooth trap buttplate w/ curved toe. CONDITION: stock set has original finish w/ light wear, scattered dents & scratches commensurate w/ careful service. Notable dent w/ missing chip at bottom right side of forend. Metal has turned overall gray w/ light wear & scattered sm. spots of peppery oxidation. Good bore w/ moderate wear to lands. (20-573/RW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
