Cal. 45 ACP. S# 65. Bbl. 5 1/2" w/ half moon front sight reshaped to quarter moon giving square faced blade; underside marked ""UNITED STATES PROPERTY"" & eagle "S2" proofed. Cyl. & extractor matching # 65. Cyl. crane & yoke w/ assembly # 194. Top left rear of frame w/ "GHS" inspector mark as used on first 42,000 revolvers. Case colored trigger & early hammer having serrated sides. Lanyard loop has faded gray tone w/ appearance of being case colored. Mfg. 1917 & very likely Sept. w/in first month of production. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 3 pair of smaller K frame sized grips; 2 1/2 pair smooth & likely for Victory model plus 1 left grip checkered w/ diamond center. CONDITION: missing grips but good overall appearance w/ spots of peppery oxidation throughout. High point wear & turn line on cyl. to include light ring on rear face of cyl. at outer edge. Top rear edge of trigger guard on each side has abrasive marks. Top of backstrap above grip area has 3 panels of file marks. Front screw of sideplate used to retain yoke & top sideplate screw have flat heads rather than standard rounded heads. Very good bore. (20-260/NW). CURIO. $500-750.
