PISTOL. Cal. approx. 40. NSN. Hacker Martin (1895-1970) was a legendary Tennessee craftsman & among the 1st generation of contemporary Kentucky rifle makers. This is one of his few pistols noted. In an accompanying letter from Turner Kirkland 1920-1997), he purchased this gun for $60 in 1953, in 1993 he is asking $2,000. Pistol measures 15" overall w/ 10" oct. bbl. signed "HACKER MARTIN" & has inset brass plaque "JOHN G. HELLER" who gun was made for. There are 8 engraved silver inlays & the brass mountings are also engraved & pistol also has incised carvings. Ramrod is also silver tipped. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Turner Kirkland. CONDITION: very good to fine overall. Iron has dark plum black patina. Stock is sound, well fit w/ good color, silver insets have dark silver patina. Mechanics fine w/ crisp rifled bore.
