Cal. approx. 40. S# 11083. Bbl. 25 7/8" heavy octagon measuring 1" across flats at muzzle. Top flat marked "SHARP'S RIFLE / MANUFg. CO. / HARTFORD CONN". Globe front sight. Express rear sight having 1 standing & 2 folding leafs. Lock plate fitted w/ priming mechanism & marked w/ "1852" date. Top tang has "1848" patent date. Double set triggers. Steel capped walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ steel buttplate having rectangular lid iron patch box on right side. CONDITION: bbl. has lightly faded brown finish. Lock plate retains some case colors in protected areas w/ balance of lock plate & action faded to gray w/ scattered light pitting. Original wood finish shows wear w/ areas of peeling having scattered dents & handling marks w/ sm. chip at bottom of forearm next to action. Bore retains strong rifling showing a few sm. spots of pitting. (01-16358/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-4,000.
