(1950s) Here is a stunning artifact salvaged from the famed, Waikikian Hotel in Honolulu. Perhaps no commercial venture of the Poly-Pop era was more influential and forward thinking as the Waikikian. Designed by star architect Pete Wimberley with installation art by Ed Brownlee, the hotel and it's Tahitian Lanai bar and restaurant were trendsetting to say the least. These were installed in the guest rooms throughout the hotel as breezeway screens that framed the hotel balconies. They can be seen in the brochures of the period and several designs were randomly placed throughout the resort. These were rescued from the demolition of the complex which made way for a modern timeshare tower. Three carved and painted wood masks mounted on a wood backing for display. 43"x17.5". VG+
