(IN-HOUSE ONLY) The high bidder and up to three companions will spend three days and nights at the JM Lutich Ranch. Your host, Scott Roosevelt will show you around the ranch where Iowa FNAWS has contributed funding towards the construction of permanent water capture roof on a 100,000+ gallon water tank. This tank is used to provide much-needed water throughout the ranch for wildlife sustainability, including mule deer, elk, javalina, pronghorn antelope and the iconic desert bighorns. It was at this ranch that the desert bighorns were reintroduced in to the Sierra Diablo mountains in the early 1970’s, via the foresight and persistence of the ranch’s early matriarch, Jewell McAdoo Lutich. In her honor, the very first desert bighorn tag since 1903, was issued to the JM Lutich ranch in 1986 and was sold at the national FNAWS convention which was held in Nashville Tennessee in January, 1987, for $60,000! Jewell McAdoo’s daughter, LeLois and son-in-law, Scott Roosevelt, carries on the tradition of Jewell’s love for wildlife and the desert bighorns. You will enjoy visiting with Scott and LeLois’ and hear their stories of the early days of how the JM Lutich Ranch came to be and their conservation stewardship quest of the area’s natural wildlife resources. If lucky, and depending on the time of year, you may be able to participate in hunting for javalinas. Javalina have been a problem on the ranch as they tend to chew the waterline connecting the various watering stations throughout the ranch. As an added bonus, the high bidder will receive a desert bighorn pick up skull which was found on the ranch and donated by Scott and LeLois! For in-house bidders, please read the attached article regarding the JM Lutich Ranch. Funds generated from this donation will be utilized by Iowa FNAWS to continue to work for the Desert bighorns of West Texas. Contact Craig Nakamoto to schedule this fantastic trip. (402)650-1383.
