REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 406. This big frame revolver measuring approx 14" overall is in standard configuration w/ 7 1/2" oct. to rnd. bbl. Unique feature of folding trigger guard as loading arm, 2 line address & patents on left side of oct. housing. This was a rather expensive arm in its day and only several hundred were made. CONDITION: good overall. Appears complete, original & matching. Metal is overall cleaned w/ a mottled gray patina. Mfg. marks are not discernable for most of 1st line. 2 Piece walnut grips retain approx. half of their original varnish w/ heavy edge wear. Mechanically functional w/ well discerned rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Dan Poppen. (01-17325/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
