Smith & Wesson First Model Hand Ejector Triplelock Double Action Revolver, #14983, .455 MK II cal., 6.5'' barrel, blue finish, factory diamond checkered unnumbered walnut grips with S&W medallions, and standard sights. Shipped Dec. 29, 1917, to Shapleigh Hardware Co., St. Louis, MO, with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. Factory letter also states that this revolver was originally mfg'd for the British government and then not shipped. They were held in inventory until 1917 and then sold to distributors in both the U.S. and Canada. Condition is fine retaining approx. 92% original factory blue. Normal index mark to cylinder. Cylinder axle with original old dry grease, needs cleaning. Interesting in this caliber to be devoid of all English proofmarks. Grips with mild flattening. Good action, bright bore.
