[roxy and His Theaters] Autograph Album With Hundreds of Tributes. Album containing a collection of hundreds of signatures and tributes to Samuel "Roxy Rothafel, director of NYC movie and theater palaces, incluing the legendary eponymous Roxy and the Radio City Music Hall, whose "Rockettes" were originally the "Roxyettes." "Roxy" was a film exhibitor, stage producer, radio broadcaster, musical arranger, theater manager, war propagandist, and more. He was also a former Marine and his ushers were famous for their military bearing. Many of his military friends signed the album, among them JIMMY DOOLITTLE and Rear-Admiral F.R. BASSETT.

Signers came from all areas: politics, royalty, literature, music, exploration, aviation, science, entertainment, and sports. A few of them are CALVIN COOLIDGE, CHARLES G. DAWES, ALFRED E. SMITH, JIMMIE WALKER, PAUL CLAUDEL, JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER, JR., FEODOR CHALIAPIN, JOHN PHILIP SOUSA, ARTURO TOSCANINI, RICHARD BIRD (also 2 telegrams from his Antartic base, French aviation pioneers COSTE and LE BRIZ, GEORGE EASTMAN, GEORGE PALMER PUTNAM (publisher and husband of Amelia Earhart), DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS, SR., MAX REINHARDT, NORMA SHEARER, IRVING THALBERG, LOUELLA PARSONS, INGRID BERMAN, JOAN CRAWFORD, MILT GROSS, JACK DEMPSEY, JOHN S HAMMOND (1st pres. of the NY Rangers), BARNEY DREYFUSS of the Pittsburgh Pirates (he created the World Series). With two vintage postcard photos of the exterior and interior of the Roxy Theater. Roxy died in 1935; his theater carried on until it was demolished in 1960.
