Cal. 58. S# 144. Bbl. 6 1/2" twist steel w/ shotgun style bead front sight; RUBAN TORDU" on top. Leige black powder proofed w/ crown T proof on breech plug. 2 Additional proofs appearing to be "uh" or "hn" depending on view plus "?8". Bottom of bbl. has 8 file notches that if on a grip would be referred to as "kill notches". Stock is of great coat pistol style w/out flare at bottom of grip. Trigger guard, butt cap & stock trim are all German silver in appearance as is band around tulip flared ramrod. Hammer, lockplate & tang (built in V notched rear sight) of hooked breech assembly are engraved steel. Buttcap, trigger guard & ramrod guide are also engraved. Checkered grip area. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: simple stained pine box w/ finger joint corners. Poor to fair condition w/ former sections in base missing. Tab on underside of detached lid for retention of ?. Appears much later construction than pistol. CONDITION: especially nice appearance w/ pleasing patina tones (gray bbl.) on metal surfaces. Light marks on stock w/ hand wear in grip area. Good smooth bore & ramrod. (01-17406/NW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
