(1950s) An ultra rare artifact from on of the most influential venues in the MID CENTURY Tiki world! Steve Crane's THE LUAU on the famous Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills was the hangout spot for so many Hollywood Elite that it boggles the mind. Anyone who was anybody in the Golden Age of Tinseltown went here regularly if for no other reason, it was right down the street from the residential part of the Los Angeles suburb where so many stars lived. Steve Crane was quite the socialite himself and with his proximity to so many movie star beauties, it is no surprise this place has high on the popularity list. What we have here is a handmade table candle lamp, supplied to every table in the restaurant and bar of THE LUAU. These were manufactured with ceramic parts from Stella Bodey's SPURLIN CERAMICS. It features the earlier, black metal base, ceramic Tikis and Hurricane lamp parts. A tealight candle would be changed out every hours or so when a new seating of diners was rotated to the table. In overall excellent condition with the exception of the base were there is surface rust. This does not detract, but could be cleaned off if one chooses to. Tiki table lamps are extremely scarce and this is one of the most in demand examples. A very rare piece of Hollywood and Tiki history! 14.5"x7". VG+ with some rust wear on top of base.
