Overall length: 26 7/8". Blade length: 16". Blade has an irregular wavy hamon & gold plated habaki. There is 1 gold plated seppa above & below the tsuba. Tsuba is plain but has gold plating. Nakago has a 5 character signature & a single mekugi-ano. Tsuka has a black & gold decorated fuchi featuring diamond shaped birds. Kashira appears to be black enameled wood. Menuki have a flower motif. Tsuka-ito is dark blue & the underwrap is gold cloth rather than the usual rayskin. Original mekugi is black enameled wood. Wooden saya has a red speckled over black enameled finish. This is truly a rare example of a boy’s katana likely made for a wealthy Samurai lord’s son. CONDITION: blade has a fine finish & the entire katana shows very light wear. (02-15017/BF). $600-1,000.
