SERIAL NUMBER 174. BARREL 7.5". CALIBER .38 RF. It is reported that only about 325 of these were made during the Civil War. The top of the octagon barrel is stamped BACON MFG. CO NORWICH CONN. The left side of barrel is stamped C.W.HOPKINS PATENTED MAY 27, 1862. This one of the few models made with the swing out cylinder for loading. The frame is factory engraved .It is a six shot, single action with spur trigger and two piece walnut grips.
Condition. Metal is a homogenous dark gray brown patina with no evident original finish. Seems to index when tried. Bore is strong with very minor powder, Grips are excellent. One of the harder to find Civil War era guns. Antique
