Nizams of Hyderabad - silver rupee, in the name of Shah Alam II, Beer mint (tentatively read), with symbol of 'Zulfiqar', the two-bladed sword of Imam 'Ali on the reverse, unpublished in major sources like KM, 11.38g.

Very fine, Very rare.

The town of Beer (now spelled as 'Beed') is located on the Western fringe of the erstwhile Hyderabad state. It is known for a Sufi shrine and was aliased 'Mominabad' during the Nizam's rule. It is likely that coins were struck here for a brief time during the period of economic anarchy that characterised the Nizam's state in late 18th - early 19th century.
