Post, Charles Johnson. (Wounded Soldier and Three Soldiers - Unfinished Sketch). Two watercolors: One of a wounded soldier, 11� x 9 in., signed at lower center, matted and framed to an overall size of 19� x 17 in.; the second is of three soldiers going up a hill (San Juan Hill?), with unfinished background, 11 x 10� in., signed at lower right, matted and framed to an overall size of 19 x 18� in. Both are scenes from the Spanish American War. Accompanied by the July 7, 1958 issue of LIFE magazine which has an article on Post. p 52-61.

Charles Johnson Post was born in 1873 in New York City. He studied at the Art Students League in New York City under John Twachtman, Kenyon Cox, J. Carroll Beckwith, and Harper Pennington. Post enlisted as a private in 1898 with the 71st New York Infantry, U.S.V., which served with a regiment of the Fifth Army Corps. Post served as an illustrator for the Army and contributed a series of sketches from the Spanish American War in and around Siboney, Cuba in 1898.
