(Disneyland, c.1960s-70s) An original painting by Dan Martinez, created to promote the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Martinez, who served as Art Director of Disney News Magazine, likely created this artwork to promote the new attractions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It depicts a wild crew of brazen buccaneers drunk on the spoils of plunderin', following a fiery coastal raid of Puerto Dorado. The kinetic brushstrokes and highlights of bold reds and electric greens in this one-of-a-kind artwork wonderfully capture the frenetic energy and blazing heat of the intense scene. Measuring 26"x19", the painting is in very good condition with minor wear to the corners, edges, and reverse of the artists board, retaining some original artists' tape on reverse.
