Original photo that hung in Phil Tippett studio from the production of the Joe Dante directed horror film 'Piranha' (1978), which tells the story of a river being infested by lethal, genetically altered piranhas, threatening the lives of the local inhabitants and the visitors to a nearby summer resort.
The film stars Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies, Kevin McCarthy, Keenan Wynn, Barbara Steele, and Dick Miller.
Phil Tippett served as the creature designer and animator for the film. He constructed dozens of rubber fish props for the production.
This lot is part of the Phil Tippett Collection and will come with a co-signed COA by Phil Tippett.
Phil Tippett is the founder and namesake of Tippett Studio. His varied career in visual effects has spanned more than 30 years and includes two Academy Awards; and six nominations, one BAFTA award and four nominations, two Emmys and the advent of modern digital effects in motion pictures.
He is the inventor of the Stop-Motion technique called Go-Motion and even has a dinosaur species named after him: Elaphrosaurus philtippettorum.
