Bank of Madras, One Hundred Rupees. Serial Number 15219. Date and signature not legible. Two diagonal "Cancelled" stamps with black ink. Obv: Vignette of Equestrian statue of “Sir Thomas Munro” (often misspelt Munroe), Governor of Madras (1820–1827) in centre, Denomination in numerals on the four corners in English, Tamil, Telugu and Persian. Rev: "BANK OF MADRAS" and the denomination "ONE HUNDRED RUPEES" in thick capital letters. With frilly borders extending into the bottom right artwork (RR# 1C.3.2.6., Pick# S153). Printed in England by Perkins, Bacon & Petch, London by a hardened steel plate. Otherwise usually found in two pieces, this lot offers of a full note. About fine, exceedingly rare.
