Birmingham English proofs with no makers marking and probably intended for the American commercial market. 37 inch vivid Damascus barrel with part octagon part round with wedding band confluence configuration. Brightly case colored breech and back action percussion lock with waterfowl engraved scenes with chiseled borders. Varnish one piece nicely figured English walnut stock with dual barrel retaining wedges with nickel silver escutcheons and fore end tip. German silver trigger guard and butt plate with traditional continental scrolls and chiseled border engraving. These Commercial Market hunting guns were typically hard used and have a very low survival rate. They were discontinued due to being banned from use due to the depletion of the the waterfowl population from over hunting. CONDITION, Exceptionally fine with little or no use being evident. The bore and action are near new while the stock has several small imperfections from period of use storage. The finest condition marked hunting 8 bore observed. ANTIQUE
