SERIAL NUMBER 40754 BARREL 19 7/8" CALIBER 28 GAUGE MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1920'S. The post WW1 German firearm industry created many unique items to increase sales and survive. This purpose made single shot 28 gauge shotgun was most likely produced as a poachers or auto burglar protection gun. Made on the same tooling as the Hebel Falre pistol but with 19 7/8" 28 gauge smooth bore. Bottom of barrel has correct German post war 28 Gauge proofs and markings. These type of smoothbore short guns became popular in the United States and were also produced by Ithaca, Iver Johnson and Harrington & Richardson. This example however is long enough to be sold as a standard shotgun and not to have any National Firearms Act limitations. CONDITION. Good with most exterior finish being worn to dove grey. 2 piece wood grips are full sized and without damage. The action operates properly. C&R
