PORTSMUT: 1ST EVER! 7-Day GOLDEN Sable Hunt for One Hunter/One NH in Namibia - Includes Trophy
Portsmut Eco Safaris invites one lucky hunter and non-hunting companion to beautiful Namibia for a rare, chance-of-lifetime opportunity to hunt golden sable antelope on this 7-day 1x1 guided rifle hunt in the breathtaking mountainous region of Khomas Hochland - includes trophy fee for sable scoring up to 40". The hunt will occur on the concession's 20,000-hectare diverse, game-rich property where golden sable freely roam and whose offspring descend from the first pale-colored young bull of record darted by wildlife veterinarian H.O. Reuter in 2012 (see below for additional history). This priceless, lifetime hunt is available February-November 2024 or 2025 and may be upgraded to include additional species at current price list. Additional hunters are welcome at $500/day; non-hunters are welcome at $250/day. Transportation during the hunt is mostly by spot & stalk. This package includes field prep, RT transfers from Windhoek Hosea Intl. Airport to camp, luxury accommodations with ensuite bath, gourmet meals, daily maid/laundry service and evening cocktails. Not included are dip & pack service, transportation to shipper and gratuities. HISTORY: Initially, H.O. Reuter suspected a mineral shortage to be the cause for the animal's unusual color. However, treatments with MultiMin and copper had no effect on his color post-treatment. A few years later, this now 4-yo bull was offered for sale on the African Game Boma Auction as a good breeding bull for its 42" horn lengths, big body, thick horn bases and good horn spread, even its color might not be genetically transmitted to offspring. The bull was acquired by Portsmut Eco Safaris and was kept as a breeding bull for their large herd of sable cows. A few years later, several calves were born with the same distinct pale golden mane, tail and coat. In the years following, he was kept as a breeding bull with the herd until his death in 2022. Since, there were several other younger golden sable bulls and cows from this herd, making it certain the golden color trait is carried over genetically, possibly in the form of a recessive gene, similar to that of golden oryx, golden wildebeest and black impala. See documentation signed by H.O. Reuter (BVSc) Wildlife Veterinarian dated March 14, 2024. DSC FOUNDATION THANKS PORTSMUT ECO SAFARIS FOR THIS 100% DONATION.
