(1960s) A true holy grail of Tiki history! This a figural terrace post from the famed, Polynesian Village Apartment complex in Playa Del Rey, California. Perhaps the most elaborate of the residential developments in Southern California of the Tiki Era. These posts flanked the terraces of each and every apartment in the complex. Standing at 14 feet tall each, artists Richard Ellis and Andres Bumatay hand-carved every one of the 100 posts required by the facility by hand and no two were alike. These posts were eventually restored and cut down into individual Tikis to a more reasonable display size. *From the MAX' SOUTH SEAS HIDEAWAY Collection. The piece is accompanied with a signed letter of authenticity by Max's owner, Mark Sellers and Peekaboo Gallery owner, Jordan Reichek. 52.5"x6"x8”. VG+ with minor wear.
