REVOLVERS. Cal. 44. S# 113532 & 96512. Bbl. 8", blue finish, brass trigger guard, 2 piece American walnut grips. This was a popular military purchased sidearm during the Civil War, 2nd only to the model 1860 Colt army. Typical configuration, top bbl. flat shows 3 line Remington address. S# is stamped on bbl. under loading lever & on frame under left grip. Various military inspector marks are on many parts of each gun including cartouches on left grips though weak on both. CONDITION: good to very good. Both have gray/brown patinas. Both have traces of blue in protected areas. Both have good mechanics & sharp rifled bores. Both appear to be original & matching w/ exception of serial number 113532 which cyl. is numbered 3734, it is not uncommon for martials w/ parts traded in the field. Cyl. has matching patina. Cyl. on serial number 96512 is not serialized but does have sub inspector mark. (01-17270 & 01-17271/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
